Ben Blomqvist started track at the age of 4 competing in the small south Texas meets that his parents entered him in. He had quickly fallen in love with the sport and began to try out all of the events. He quickly found a love for high jump and quickly became proficient. At age 9 he did his first triathlon and found a new love. From then on, he pursued the multi-events. At age 11 he began the pentathlon and loved having more events to do. Finally at age 15 he found his true love, the decathlon. Quickly he began to take a liking to all ten events and determined that this would be his event. Ben is a dual citizen of Sweden and competes for Örgryte IS. Ben went to Champion high school and competed in the 400m, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, high-jump, long-jump, shotput, and holds the 4x400m school record. He spent his first year at Angelo State University competing in the decathlon and 400m hurdles, then transferred to Texas State University where he continues his education and Decathlon career currently.
